Day-to-day leadership of the Veggie Grill fast-casual chain will pass from Greg Dollarhyde to Steve Heeley on May 2, according to the 29-unit operation.

Dollarhyde has served as chief energizing officer for the meatless concept for five years. Heeley, a friend and business partner of Dollarhyde since 1999, will assume the posts of CEO and president. Heeley currently serves as COO.

Dollarhyde will remain on Veggie Grill’s board, and Heeley will be added as a director.

The two are longtime veterans of the chain restaurant business. Prior to joining Veggie Grill, Heeley was president and CEO of the Earl of Sandwich fast-casual brand, and earlier served as COO of Au Bon Bain.

Dollarhyde has held high-level executive positions at Zoe’s Kitchen, Baja Fresh, Country Harvest Buffet, Rusty Pelican, Kenny Rogers Roasters, Pizza Hut and TGI Fridays. He has also operated franchised Pizza Huts and Taco Bells.
