Dunkin’ Donuts is broadening its test of order-ahead capabilities, as the chain will this week allow rewards program members in the Boston area to place orders via their mobile devices and pick them up in-store, the Boston Herald reports.
The chain previously limited its mobile-ordering test to 125 restaurants in the Portland, Maine, market.
“We’ve been really pleased with what we’re seeing [in the Portland area],” Scott Hudler, Dunkin’s vice president of global consumer engagement, told the Boston Herald. “Usage continues to rise. We want to extend it to Boston—our hometown—and get greater and more robust consumer data.”
Dunkin’ Donuts is currently trailing its largest competitor when it comes to mobile ordering, as Starbucks rolled out its Mobile Order & Pay functionality chainwide last fall.
