Marketing veteran Chris Tomasso has been named president of First Watch, the four-concept breakfast-and-lunch specialist, effective Jan. 1.

Tomasso, currently chief marketing officer for the company, will continue to serve in that capacity, overseeing First Watch’s marketing and culinary development, according to an announcement issued this morning. His duties will be expanded with his promotion to include all operations of First Watch’s four brands.

All are what First Watch calls “daytime-only restaurants,” serving breakfast, brunch and lunch, but not dinner.

Tomasso will apparently assume the president’s title from co-founder Ken Pendery, who remains CEO.

In addition to the 135-unit First Watch chain, the company is the operator or franchisor of 116 The Egg & I restaurants, 20 The Good Egg branches and one Bread & Company café.

Tomasso is a 23-year veteran of the restaurant industry. The last nine were spent with First Watch.

Previously, he served in marketing positions for Cracker Barrel and Hard Rock Café.
