Food distributors spent $194K lobbying in 2Q

PORTLAND, OR (August 30, 2010)—The International Foodservice Distributors Association spent $193,700 in the second quarter lobbying the federal government, according to a recent disclosure report.

That is up from the $187,050 the group spent a year earlier and from the $172,423 it spent in this year's first quarter.

The organization -- whose members include Sysco Corp. and U.S. Foodservice Inc. -- lobbied the federal government on labor, food safety, tax policy and other issues.

In addition to Congress, the industry group also lobbied the Food and Drug Administration in April through June, according to the report the group filed July 19 with the House Clerk's office.
