Subway is getting a jump on the winter holiday season with its launch on Nov. 1 of the Double Chocolate Peppermint Footlong Cookie.
It’s been close to a year since the original Footlong Chocolate Chip Cookie rolled out nationally, and more than 10 million of the treats have been sold since January, according to the Miami-based sandwich chain.
The new cookie variation is a little glitzier. It has a 12-inch-long base of double chocolate cookie dough that’s packed with chocolate and white chocolate chips, swirled with peppermint extract and topped with red and white candy cane pieces. It’s served warm and comes packaged in a holiday gift box.
“Since their debut earlier this year, millions of Footlong Cookies have delighted our fans—now we can’t wait for them to experience how we’ve reimagined another classic cookie flavor into even more footlong indulgence,” said Paul Fabre, SVP of culinary and Innovation at Subway, in a statement. “The holiday season is synonymous with cookies, making it the perfect time to introduce this new warm, flavor-packed footlong cookie to our snack menu.”
The Double Chocolate Peppermint Footlong Cookie is Subway’s latest footlong addition to its Sidekicks collection of snacks, which also includes a footlong churro and soft pretzel. All are priced at around $5 or less.
Fabre told Restaurant Business back in May that people come in and order a Sidekick to have as snack or buy multiples to share as afternoon snacks. “They’re a quick addition and offer great value for the guest,” he said, adding that other Sidekick ideas are in the pipeline.
The Double Chocolate Peppermint Footlong Cookie is available nationwide through Dec. 31, while supplies last.
