Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly has closed school buildings until next school year.

Students will spend the remainder of the semester learning remotely to help combat the spread of COVID-19.

As school districts close throughout the country, many K-12 operators are working to provide to-go meals for students. A recent survey conducted by the School Nutrition Association revealed that while over half of respondents are either already providing emergency meal and food assistance or were developing plans to feed students during school closures, many were worried about the safety of their staff as well as whether the government will reimburse them for the meals.
