From its beginnings in 2018 as a 900-square-foot storefront in East Hollywood, the Nashville hot chicken chain has grown to 27 stores, nearly all of them in California. The point of difference from Angry Chickz's many competitors, according to founder David Mkhitaryan, is the caliber of its food. He tapped his experiences as a cook in his father's restaurant to come up with Angry's fiery preparations. The menu is heavy on sandwiches and bowls, all offered in six heat gradations, including one that requires the customer to sign a waiver attesting they won't sue if singed. The marketing ploy is apparently now a standard feature of Nashville hot chicken concepts.
