Sweden-born Breakfast Republic founder Johan Engman moved to San Diego as a teenager and found himself developing a passion for the hospitality industry. He launched the Breakfast Republic concept in 2015, giving the morning daypart a boozy and quirky twist, with dishes like Cinnamon Roll Pancakes or Breakfast Mac & Cheese (topped with fried eggs). Now with 18 units, the concept has been moving north through Southern California into the greater Los Angeles area.
