Ginsberg's Bests Sysco for $15 Million Operator Coop Contract

Ginsberg’s reportedly outbid both Sysco and U.S. Foodservice for the cooperative’s contract, valued at $15 million. Christou said the deal should provide the cooperative with better prices, new products and food from local producers. The cooperative reportedly completed its conversion to Ginsberg’s in early January.

Family-owned Ginsberg’s was founded as a retail grocery operation and entered foodservice distribution in the early 1960s. Today, it claims to be the largest foodservice distributor in New York’s Hudson Valley, serving customers in a six-state region from a 1.4-million-cubic-foot warehouse.
