Jimmy John's plans to undercut competitors for one day

The Jimmy John’s sandwich chain plans to drop the price of six varieties of subs to $1 next Thursday, or what management has christened Customer Appreciation Day.

The offer is limited to sandwiches sold in-store rather than delivered, and customers can buy only one each. The fine print on the deal also indicates there could be an upcharge for whole-wheat bread.

The reasons for celebrating guests next Thursday was not clear. Jimmy John’s was founded 33 years ago by Jimmy John Liautaud, who was given the choice at the time by his father of either enlisting in the army or finding a way to make some money. The 19-year-old decided to start a business.
