BJ’s Restaurants, Shake Shack, Bonchon and more make executive moves

BJ’s Restaurants has named William Atkins as its interim CFO. Atkins is a partner with FLG Partners, a CFO services and advisory firm, and previously was CFO at a number of software and analytics companies. He’ll take over for Thomas Houdek, who resigned in June, while the chain searches for a permanent replacement.

Shake Shack has a new chief people officer. Jamie Griffin moved into the role last week, reporting to CEO Rob Lynch. Griffin founded the strategic advisory firm Consult to Grow, and he has two decades of experience helping restaurants scale, including work with Raising Cane’s, where he was previously senior vice president.

Edible Brands has named Matthew Walls to the role of president and chief stores officer. He previously held executive positions at Domino’s, CKE Restaurants and Caribou Coffee. Korean fried chicken chain Bonchon announced two new additions to its development team to double down on franchise expansion. David Wheeler joined the company as VP of development and Michel Haddad as director of design and construction. Separately, both have previously held leadership roles in chains including Pollo Campero, Salata, Schlotzsky’s, Popeyes, Arby’s, Applebee’s, Papa Johns and more.

Beans & Brews Coffee House appointed Becca McIntyre as VP of supply chain and culinary. McIntyre is a classically trained chef with deep experience in both menu development and operations. As the Salt Lake City-based coffee chain continues to grow, CEO Doug Willmarth also announced additional hires: Carrie Cohen as senior manager of digital marketing and Rachel Day as senior Manager of social media.

Metropole on Walnut in Cincinnati has named Corey Cova executive chef. A Navy veteran and Culinary Institute of America graduate, Cova cooked aboard the U.S.S. Jimmy Carter before moving into high-end New York kitchens, including Momofuku Ssam Bar, Morimoto and Earl’s Beer & Cheese. In California, he launched Porkchop Slims.
