Clean Eatz this week named Gary Sachs its new chief financial officer. The Wilmington N.C.-based chain said it added the 30-year industry veteran as part of a strategy to build out its roster of executives in anticipation of quicker growth.

Sachs comes to the healthy eating quick-service concept from LM Restaurants, a family-owned restaurant group out of Raleigh. He previously worked with Brinker International and Fuddruckers.

He will “play a leading role” in helping provide for the development of the Clean Eatz chain, which finished 2021 with 60 locations, according to Restaurant Business sister company Technomic. The company said that Sachs will focus immediately on elevating the reporting and analysis of finances at both the corporate and unit level to get a more detailed view of its financial health.

“Bringing Gary into the fold couldn’t have come at a more pivotal moment for us,” Evonne Varady, Clean Eatz’s cofounder, said in a statement. “The franchise is undergoing a record rate of expansion, and having an experienced finance professional, well-versed in the franchising model, has become an absolute necessity.”

Clean Eatz opened its first restaurant in 2011 and started franchising in 2015. It was founded by Varady and her husband Don.
