Courage after catastrophe: Kelly & Giffords’ story

Astronaut Mark Kelly has piloted the space shuttle, flown more than three dozen combat missions over Kuwait and Iraq, and, perhaps most important, delivered a crucial replacement part for the International Space Station’s lone and broken toilet. But it was a crazed assassin’s bullet that brought him to national prominence, a tragic curve that will be re-traced at the 2015 RLC not only by Kelly, but also by the would-be victim and Kelly’s wife, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.

The pair will talk about the courage, strength and discipline that were needed for Giffords and the marriage to survive after a crazed shooter upended lives that were already rich in challenges but awash in the rewards.

The couple will deliver a joint kick-off address on the first full day of activities at the RLC, which is scheduled for March 22-25 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
