Midwestern pizza chain Dewey’s Pizza has named its chief operations officer to the role of president.

Chuck Lipp, who started with Dewey’s in 2003, takes over the post from Andrew DeWitt, who will become the 25-unit chain’s executive chairman while continuing to oversee corporate strategy.

“The intention of this promotion is to allow Chuck and our leadership team the ability to more autonomously manage the day-to-day activities of the business and to prepare the company for growth while creating space for me to focus on supporting our executive team and our strategic endeavors and initiatives,” DeWitt said in a statement.

As COO, Lipp focused on development, growth and efficiency for the chain.

“When I started with Dewey’s, I immersed myself in every operational role in order to understand the systems and job responsibilities at all levels,” he said in a statement.”
