Famous Dave's CFO resigns

Paul Malazita was named interim CFO to replace Dexter Newman.

Dexter Newman has resigned as chief financial officer at Famous Dave’s, according to an SEC filing on Monday.

Paul Malazita, the Minneapolis-based chain’s director of accounting, was named interim CFO on Monday, according to the filing.

Newman’s resignation is effective March 5, and he is leaving “to accept an eventual external role,” according to Famous Dave’s. Newman had been CFO since 2016.

His departure is yet another in a long string of executive changes at the casual-dining barbecue chain. It comes just months after the company appointed Jeffery Crivello as CEO.

Last month, the company said it had hired world champion barbecue pitmaster Travis Clark to lead menu innovation.
