Jimmy John’s on Thursday named Darin Dugan its chief marketing officer.

The longtime marketing executive will report directly to the sandwich chain’s president, James North, and will oversee brand marketing and planning, menu and new product development, advertising, and digital.

“Darin has proven he can do it all over the course of his remarkable career,” North said in a statement. He noted Dugan’s “singular focus on guest experience,” saying it “will help accelerate the growth of Jimmy John’s.”

Dugan was previously vice president of marketing with Sonic Drive-In, a sister chain of Jimmy John’s under parent company Inspire Brands. Dugan led brand management, media, creative, social and digital. He previously held positions with Applebee’s and before that Kraft Foods.

Dugan takes over marketing for the 2,800-unit sandwich chain recently folded into Inspire, which also operates Buffalo Wild Wings and Arby’s.
