Krystal on Tuesday named former Huddle House CFO David Krisher to be its new chief financial officer.

The move follows the company’s realignment of its corporate structure and improvement of its financial standing. It also said it has generated operating efficiencies that are improving profitability.

Thomas Stager, the chain’s CEO, said the company has “ambitious expansion goals” that make a strong financial position a “top priority.” Krisher has proven experience across multiple financial disciplines that make him a “perfect addition to our leadership team.”

Krisher joins Krystal from Ascent Hospitality Management, the parent company of the 600-unit Huddle House and Perkins Restaurant and Bakery. Krisher led Ascent’s acquisition of Perkins, and Krystal gave Krisher credit for improving earnings and overseeing the company’s capital management and liquidity efforts during the COVID-19 crisis.

Krystal filed for bankruptcy in early 2020, just before the pandemic. The company was later sold to one of its lenders. The chain has 300 locations.

Said Stager: “We are building the kind of financial foundations that allow brands to expand quickly and effectively, while also maintaining favorable debt servicing, capital positions and overall earnings.”
