After launching a menu overhaul last year, Panera Bread has brought in new culinary and marketing leaders.

The fast-casual chain said Tuesday it has named Scott Uehlein vice president of culinary. He comes from Papa Johns, where he was vice president of culinary, and has worked previously at MOD Pizza and Sonic.

In addition, Robin Seward, former senior vice president of marketing for Subway, is joining Panera as senior vice president, brand and integrated marketing. Seward’s past life also includes serving as chief marketing officer for Schlotzky’s and Rita’s Italian Ice, as well as serving as VP of brand marketing at Arby’s.

“I am excited to welcome Robin and Scott to an already stellar group of marketing leaders at Panera,” said Mark Shambura, Panera’s CMO, in a statement. “They will be instrumental as we focus on innovating this year through our marketing strategy and our menu offerings. I’m thrilled for them to join the team and look forward to what’s coming next.”

Panera has also hired a new creative agency. The 2,200-unit chain is bringing in 72andSunny, a firm that has worked with many restaurant brands.

This news follows the announcement last week that Panera’s CEO José Alberto Dueñas is stepping down. Paul Carbone, the company’s CFO, is serving as interim CEO, though Duenas will remain as an advisor through March.
