Tara Comonte is stepping down as president and chief financial officer at Shake Shack, the company said Monday.
She is taking a position to be the CEO of TMRW Life Sciences, a life sciences technology company based in New York.
Comonte has been with the New York-based Shake Shack since 2017, when she was named CFO. She was given the president title two years later. Comonte will remain in her role through May 7 to oversee the company’s first-quarter reporting period. Shake Shack said it is retaining a search firm to find a new CFO.
“I’m thrilled to see her take on a CEO role and our Shack team will be rooting for her every success,” Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti said in a statement. “She leaves the company with an incredibly strong team and foundation that is well-positioned for our accelerated growth ahead.”
Shake Shack was founded in 2004 and operates 320 U.S. locations to go along with more than 100 international units. Comonte said in a statement that she will remain one of Shake Shack’s “biggest fans.”
UPDATE: This story has been updated to include the company where Comonte will become the CEO.
