Stan Frankenthaler, the celebrated chef who left fine dining to develop new menu options for Dunkin’, has joined the Shari’s Cafe & Pies family restaurant chain as executive chef and SVP of supply chain.
Frankenthaler was previously chief officer of food and beverage for CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries, the parent company of Rock Bottom, Gordon Biersch and Old Chicago. He spent four years with the casual-dining operation after spending nearly nine years with Dunkin’.
Earlier, the New Englander was a partner and executive chef in a number of fine-dining restaurants in the Boston area, including Salamander, Red Herring and Beehive. His work in the kitchen earned him three nominations for the James Beard Foundation’s Northeast Chef of the Year award. He also worked for Jasper’s, the much-lauded Boston restaurant of chef Jasper White.
Frankenthaler will be responsible for implementing Shari’s new Northwest Fresh menu, a bill of fare that celebrates the local produce and preparations of the Pacific Northwest and California, where most of the company’s 92 restaurants are located. Shari’s is also the parent company of the Coco’s and Carrows family restaurant chains.
