This holiday season, operators are going beyond the traditional holiday deals in an attempt to drive sales. Here some creative ways they're hoping to draw diners before the start of the New Year.
2. Gingerbread house construction
In honor of National Gingerbread Day on Dec. 12, Krystal is outfitting its 24-steamer pack burger boxes with a template and instructions for customers to construct the box into a gingerbread house at home. The boxes will be available throughout the month of December while supplies last.
3. Visit from Santa
Select White Castle locations and Ovation Brands restaurants will host visits with Santa throughout the month. At White Castle, guests can enjoy lunch with Santa as well as free My Size Meals for kids, while customers at Old Country Buffet, Ryan's, HomeTown Buffet and Country Buffet will be able to kick off their days with the brands’ Breakfast with Santa events.
4. Pre-skate prix fixe
Playing up its location near an ice skating rink, Coda di Volpe, an Italian restaurant in Chicago, is offering guests a pre-skate prix-fixe dinner. Through the end of the year, guests can enjoy a three-course meal for $36 before or after spending some time on the ice.
5. Holiday burger
The Columbus Tap in Chicago is doing its own version of an advent calendar for the holiday season. Each day from Dec. 1 to Dec. 24, the restaurant will serve a different seasonal small-batch beer not normally available on the menu. Participating guests are given a passport that is stamped each time they try one of the featured beers. Guests with full passport cards at the end of the event will be entered to win a variety of prizes.
