Chipotle Mexican Grill is hoping friendship and free burritos will encourage more people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Next Tuesday, July 6, the fast casual will offer one free entree with the purchase of another for any customer who says "Friends BOGO" while checking out in a restaurant. (Yes, the deal applies to in-restaurant transactions only—a change for the chain that has been laser-focused on its digital business recently.)
The giveaway is tied to a nationwide push for vaccinations in July.
"As a proud participant in the National Month of Action for Vaccinations, we are encouraging our fans to give their friends free Chipotle as a craveable reward for getting vaccinated," said Chris Brandt, the chain's chief marketing officer.
The BOGO offer applies on July 6 from 3 p.m. to close at participating U.S. locations. Proof of vaccination is not required to redeem the deal.
