Lettuce Entertain You launches meal kit line

It’s the first time online grocer Peapod has joined forces with a restaurant brand for its prepackaged kits.

Multiconcept operator Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises has partnered with Peapod to sell branded meal kits from two of its restaurant brands. The move marks the first time the online grocer has collaborated with a restaurant on its meal kits.

The three new kits, available in serving sizes of two and four, include two from steakhouse chain Wildfire (Beef tenderloin with couscous and BBQ bison meatloaf with mashed potatoes and caramelized onions) and a sweet and sour chicken option from Chinese-Thai concept Big Bowl.

The branded meal kits include ingredients that are already washed, measured and chopped for a “restaurant-quality meal with minimal prep time,” according to a Peapod press release. Unlike meal kit delivery services such as Blue Apron, these prepackaged meals require no subscription.

“By joining forces with Peapod, our recipes will reach a larger audience and give customers who may not have the opportunity to dine in our restaurants the chance to taste our most popular dishes,” said Howard Katz, president of Wildfire and Big Bowl, which have locations in Illinois, Minnesota and Virginia.

The kits are available for home delivery in Chicago, New York City and Washington, D.C.
