Taco Bell is bringing back its baseball focused “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” promotion, and this time it’s getting its smartphone app involved.
The Irvine, Calif.-based taco chain will give customers the opportunity to get free Doritos Locos Tacos as soon as a player steals a base during the upcoming World Series, which starts on Tuesday. The promotion has proven to be a popular one in the previous eight years it has been run.
This time, the company will let customers get free tacos within a few hours of the first stolen base in the World Series, using the Taco Bell app.
For customers who are not on the app, free Doritos Locos Tacos will be available on Oct. 28 inside the chain’s restaurants.
“Steal a Base, Steal a Taco has become a tradition tied to the World Series,” Noah Garden, chief revenue officer for Major League Baseball, said in a statement.
The company is also partnering with BetMGM for the second year in a row for people who use that gambling app. Users can put prop bets on which player they think will steal the first base of the World Series. They will also be able to bet on what inning the first stolen base takes place.
