You can now bet on Domino’s curbside service times

The pizza chain is working with the daily fantasy sports company DraftKings to let customers predict the speed of its Carside Delivery service as it starts guaranteeing the service in two minutes or less.

Domino’s will give customers their pizzas within two minutes if they order Carside Delivery or its free in a promotion that hearkens back to the chain’s 30-minute delivery guarantee.

In the process, the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based chain is also throwing in this wrinkle: The company is working with the daily fantasy sports site DraftKings to let customers bet on whether the company can hit that two-minute mark 80% of the time.

Customers that participate in the prop bet can get the chance to win a share of $200,000.

“This is the first time DraftKings has created a betting pool based on a company’s performance,” Art D’Elia, Domino’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “We want to make every delivery to customers’ cars an easy and fast experience, and if we don’t, we’re going to make it right.”

“To show how much we believe in our franchisees and stores across the country, we’re giving customers the opportunity to predict how we’ll do and have a little fun.”

Domino’s has used guarantees to advertise its various services, starting with the notable 30-minute guarantee decades ago and more recently giving customers a guarantee when they pick up their pizzas at one of the chain’s restaurants.

The company introduced its curbside service, called Carside Delivery, during the pandemic and now it is using a two-minute guarantee and the DraftKings pool to advertise that service.

Domino’s is working to shift its business as consumers themselves shift potentially to in-store visits rather than delivery.

The Domino’s Carside Delivery 2-Minute Guarantee Over/Under challenge is free and takes place between now and July 12 at DraftKings’ website or its Daily Fantasy app. Customers pick whether Domino’s can fulfill that mark more than 80% of the time or less.
