Military food supplier strategic in pegging trends

BOSTON (March 4, 2011 - Boston Business Journal)—As a food products distributor and supplier to military markets worldwide, the battle plan of Michelle Keating’s company, Walpole-based Alder Foods Inc., has been to follow consumer trends closely.

“I’m someone who likes to take a brand and see how we can build off that product portfolio,” said Keating, 49.

About 10 years ago, Keating took a gamble on introducing organic milk manufactured by Wisconsin-based Organic Valley. Since that the time, the company has introduced a number of additional items from Organic Valley — which has become a substantial piece of Alder Foods’ business.
