Noodles & Company shuts down 16 locations

Noodles & Company shuttered 16 restaurants on Wednesday.

The news comes after the chain’s announcement in February that it plans to close 55 underperforming company-run stores.

The closings will allow the chain “to focus exclusively on capitalizing on the many restaurants that are doing very well in the markets where they operate," said spokesperson Danielle Moore.

Noodles & Company has not publicly identified the 55 restaurants that are slated to close. Last month, several locations across the country were shuttered, from Denver to Pittsburgh.

With sales declining, the chain is pursuing a turnaround strategy that includes streamlining the menu and boosting digital orders.
