Muscle Maker Grill is expanding further into the meal preparation business with its acquisition on Tuesday of Superfit Foods.

The acquisition comes on the heels of Muscle Maker Grill’s recent partnership with Happy Meal Prep, which provided the fast casual an opportunity to ship its fully prepared healthy meal options to potential customers throughout the Northeast.

Superfit Foods is located in northern Florida, opening up an additional market for Muscle Maker’s target audience of health-conscious consumers.

This subscription-based service differs in that it delivers fully prepared meals and fresh-pressed juices directly to coolers in gyms and wellness centers for customers to pick up. Superfit Foods also offers the options of shipping and home delivery.

The company offers a selection of over 150 meals, focusing on special diet categories including Paleo, vegetarian and weight loss. It produced more than 220,000 meals during 2020.

“The Superfit Foods acquisition fully supports our non-traditional approach to getting ‘healthier for you’ food in people’s stomachs through non-traditional venues and methods such as ghost kitchens, military bases and college campuses,” said Mike Roper, CEO of Muscle Maker Grill, in a statement. He also said that he intends to evaluate additional markets to expand the business beyond Florida.
