Should restaurants fear alcohol warning labels?

This week’s episode of the Working Lunch podcast, from the public affairs firm Align Public Strategies, includes a discussion on alcohol warning labels. The U.S. Surgeon General recently called for the labels, citing the potentially carcinogenic impact of drinking. 

Align’s Joe Kefauver and Franklin Coley also discuss the return of the Service Employees International Union, or SEIU, to the AFL-CIO just as a union-hostile Trump Administration gets ready to take office. They discuss the volatile history of the organizations, why they reunited and what it means for the restaurant industry, particularly Starbucks. 

McDonald’s, meanwhile, recently walked back some of its DEI initiatives and hiring goals, joining a long list of U.S. companies. They talk about that issue and why this might be an increasingly complicated conversation for the industry.
