Welcome to Restaurant Business’ Week in Review for the week of April 21st, 2025.

IHOP President Lawrence Kim, who joined the breakfast chain in January, is looking to reinvigorate the brand with a focus on food, service and value.

The Minecraft Movie has been very good for McDonald’s. Traffic has taken off in April since the burger giant added Minecraft happy meal for kids and one geared toward adults.

Maggiano’s is getting a white-tablecloth upgrade. At casual-dining prices.

Two big CEO moves in one day: Former Wingstop chief Charlie Morrison will lead Jersey Mike’s, becoming the sandwich chain’s second leader in 50 years. And Red Robin named David Pace CEO, replacing G.J. Hart.

In finance news, Chipotle recorded its first negative same-store sales since 2020. And Jack in the Box is closing as many as 200 underperforming restaurants and may sell its Del Taco brand.
