Welcome to Restaurant Business’ Week in Review for the week of April 14, 2025.

Fast-growing fast-casual chain Dave’s Hot Chicken took home the Pacesetter Award, kicking off the Restaurant Leadership Conference. The award honors emerging brands that have moved from up-and-comers to leaders.

Restaurant operators remain confident. That’s despite plunging traffic and consumer confidence, according to a Technomic presentation at RLC.

Chili’s is going after McDonald’s again, launching its Big QP burger, which riffs on the burger giant’s iconic Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

The Technomic Top 500 restaurant ranking is out, revealing that chain restaurant sales grew just 3% in 2024. That’s the worst year since the pandemic.

Burger King franchisee Consolidated Burger Holdings filed for bankruptcy protection this week, citing heavy debt and weak sales.
