Pappas adds new dining concept: Pappas Meat Co.

The Pappas Restaurants family is adding a new concept to the fold: a casual steak restaurant with a southern flair. Pappas Meat Co., which will feature traditional American and authentic Southern food, is set to open this fall at 12010 East Freeway.

“This is something we’ve had in our back pocket for years,” said Pappas spokeswoman Christina Pappas. “We’ve been waiting for the right opportunity.”

That came recently when a former Pappas Seafood House at that location was closed (the operation was moved to a new Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen two doors down) leaving an empty building. “We decided it was a great place to remodel and reopen as a concept we’ve been wanting to do for a long time,” Pappas said.

The Pappas group describes Pappas Meat Co. like this: “Our beef offerings will feature everything from Porterhouse to Bone-In Ribeye. Our chefs are currently creating dishes with other proteins including juicy Double-Cut Pork Chops, American Catfish, Roasted Chicken and Gulf Coast Shrimp. The menu combines the very best, simple yet hearty dishes ranging from fresh, dynamic salads to Southern favorites like Chicken Fried Steak and Fried Green Tomatoes.”
