The Mexican category overall saw sales increase by 0.9% to $18 billion and units by 4.1%, to 12,656.

Parent company Fiesta Restaurant Group has reached into fine-dining for its new chief.

The parent of Taco Cabana and Pollo Tropical said it will review its strategic direction, including a pending split of the brands.

More than half of the restaurant industry’s $491 billion in sales come from the Top 500 chains.
