Wingstop restructures tech team with focus on marketing

The chain is putting an emphasis on one-to-one marketing as it look to drive more digital business.

The fast-growing wing chain plans to open 25 company-owned restaurants and ghost kitchens in the heart of New York City “as fast as we can,” its CEO said.

Wingstop declined to break down the financials on its new virtual concept Wednesday but said its thigh-focused brand is succeeding at helping the chain battle high wing prices.

For next week’s National Chicken Wing Day, the chain is incentivizing customers to order from its Thighstop virtual brand.

Bone-in and boneless thighs will be added to Wingstop’s permanent menu “eventually,” said the chain’s COO.

The chain is now selling crispy chicken thighs from its kitchens, as well as boneless breaded thighs in a move to combat the volatility of chicken wing pricing.
