Starbucks adds Evolution Fresh-branded smoothies

Starbucks is adding Evolution Fresh-brand smoothies to the menus of 4,300 branches in the Pacific Northwest and units nationwide that are located inside grocery stores.

The drinks will be priced around $5.95, the company said.

The limited rollout will be followed by the introduction of a proprietary yogurt parfait snack in Starbucks cafes in May and a Greek yogurt sold in the dairy cases of supermarkets starting in the summer. The parfaits will be priced from $3.75 to $4.25, the chain said.

Starbucks is touting the ingredients of the new smoothies, which include a proprietary blend of Greek yogurt and Evolution Fresh’s cold-pressed vegetable and fruit juices. Starbucks owns Evolution Fresh and its retail juice shops.

Three flavors of the smoothies will be featured, Starbucks said. The versions are Strawberry, Mango Carrot and Sweet Greens, a blend of green-vegetable juices, mango and banana.

Starbucks estimates the U.S. smoothie market at $2.2 billion.
