Waffle House is offering delivery for the first time

The Southern breakfast chain is partnering with DoorDash to fulfill deliveries. Waffle House had been one of the few large restaurant brands not to offer the service.

For the first time, Waffle House is offering delivery at all of its more than 2,000 restaurants.

The Southern breakfast staple is partnering with DoorDash to make it happen. Customers can order delivery on Waffle House’s website or app and it will be fulfilled by a DoorDash delivery person. In some markets, the service will be available around the clock at the 24/7 chain.

The move is significant because Waffle House was one of the few large restaurant brands in the U.S. to not offer delivery.

It’s part of a concerted push into digital at the Norcross, Georgia-based chain, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in diner-style restaurants. In late 2023, Waffle House added online ordering through Olo, marking its first major investment in digital technology.

The company said adding delivery aligns with its goal to be there for customers “day or night.”

“Partnering with DoorDash allows us to extend that same dependable experience beyond our restaurant walls, making it easier than ever for guests to enjoy the Waffle House comfort they love, from the comfort of their home,” said EVP Patrick Marshburn in a statement.

The growth of third-party delivery apps like DoorDash and Uber Eats since the pandemic has made the service a virtual must-have for restaurants, even for old-school brands like Waffle House. Chains that have been late to adopt it, such as Domino’s and Olive Garden, have reported incremental sales growth since making it available.

In addition to offering delivery through its own website and app, Waffle House will also be listed on the DoorDash app in Atlanta, Charleston, Cincinnati, Columbus, Nashville, and New Orleans for 24/7 delivery.

The news marks another win for DoorDash’s white-labeled delivery service, which powers orders placed through restaurants’ own digital channels. Last month, McDonald’s said it is working with DoorDash to power web-based online ordering for the first time.

Waffle House has more than 2,000 restaurants in 25 states.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story said Waffle House would not be listed on the DoorDash app. It will be on the app in select markets.
