The boom years have passed for the frozen dessert category, whose new store growth ceased in 2015. Nevertheless, the category increased sales by 6.8% to $6.4 billion. Thank leader Dairy Queen; its sales make up about 46% of the category, and they grew by 10.1%. The supporting cast also includes froyo concepts Yogurtland and Menchie’s.
