BiRite Hires First Corporate Chef

BRISBANE, CA - Jim Benson has been hired as corporate chef, a new position, at BiRite Foodservice Distributors here.

As corporate chef, Benson will offer the Top 50 distributor's leading customers strategic advice, about new and exciting menu ideas as well as managing food costs.

Benson is a graduate from the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, NY, where he received both the prestigious Angel Award for Valedictorian and the coveted McIlhenny Award for Academic Excellence.

Benson was hired in 1976 as executive chef for Victoria Station Restaurants, where he was responsible for R&D, kitchen layout and design, creation of food concepts and training. In 1979, he left Victoria Station to co-found Roadhouse Restaurants, which then became California Cafe Restaurant Corp. Most recently he was partner in Harvest Restaurants, Inc., and Harvest Restaurant Consulting.
