Bojangles’ Q3 profit jumps 27%

Net income at Bojangles’ increased 27 percent year over year during the third quarter, growing to $8.9 million, the chicken chain announced on an earnings call Wednesday.

Total revenues at the chain increased 12.7 percent over the year-ago quarter, to $124.3 million, while comps increased 4.1 percent. 

CEO Clifton Rutledge said the chain is working on several “important initiatives” to strengthen the brand and grow its footprint in the Southeast as well as its core North and South Carolina markets.

He also echoed the sentiment of other QSR executives on recent earnings calls, noting that the chain hasn’t seen “any meaningful impact” from McDonald’s rollout of all-day breakfast.

Rutledge did note that the chain has seen a negative sales impact from extreme rainfall in the Carolinas region during the first two weeks of October, which will affect future comps. As a result, the chain expects comps growth to be in the low-single-digits range for Q4.
