Dairy Queen debuts oven-baked sandwiches, desserts

Dairy Queen is rolling out new made-to-order products that will be prepared using new ovens being installed across the Dairy Queen system, the chain announced Monday.

These nine sweet and savory products, which comprise the DQ Bakes! line, fall under three categories: hot desserts a la mode, “artisan-style” hot sandwiches and snack melts. The new menu items include a triple chocolate brownie, a chicken-bacon-ranch sandwich and a buffalo-chicken snack melt.

Prior to the official announcement, the company had been rolling out DQ Bakes! products—which are now available in 70 percent of Dairy Queen locations nationwide—over the last month or so, reports the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

“DQ Bakes! reflect the high quality and value our fans have come to expect from us,” Barry Westrum, executive vice president for American Dairy Queen Corp., said in a statement, calling the products a “game-changer” for the system.
