Been avoiding Taco Bell because of lack of Vegan Nacho Sauce? Problem solved.

The beloved Nacho Fries are back and this time in a new large size that can now be ordered with a dairy-free nacho sauce for those who want nothing to do with cheese.

Taco Bell has a series of new menu items coming soon that will be revealed in due time. But first, the chain is bringing back a beloved fan favorite, starting Thursday: Nacho Fries.

It’s actually the 10th time the seasoned fries have reappeared on the menu, but this time they will be available in a new large serving.

And the chain is making them more vegan friendly.

The fries, of course, are already vegan. But starting Oct. 12, the chain will roll out a new Vegan Nacho Sauce for dipping those fries, or anything else, for that matter. The sauce will also be available in two sizes and priced at a recommended $2.19 for a regular, and $2.99 for a large.

Certified by the American Vegan Association, the nacho sauce appeared earlier as part of a Vegan Crunchwrap test in June.

During a preview tasting of the new products this week, brand officials said the vegan sauce, which is a first for the brand, is made with soy and chickpeas. It attempts to approximate the texture of nacho sauce made with cheese, but the flavor is slightly sweet, and could not be described as particularly cheesy.

This will likely not come as a surprise to those who enjoy vegan cheese.

Taco Bell has long been a preferred fast-food brand for vegans and vegetarians because of the many offerings that can be made meat and dairy free, with beans as a protein.

The brand does warn strict vegans, however, that some cross contamination with animal products could occur in restaurants.
