ID NEWS: Ben E. Keith honors top DSR, suppliers

FORT WORTH, TEXAS-Ben E. Keith Foods has recognized Mel Rivers as its DSR of the Year. Rivers, based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Div., received the prestigious Johnny Beauchamp Award during the regional broadliner's annual Sales Recognition Banquet for outstanding salespeople of 2002-03, held at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel here.

Rivers was selected from a field of approximately 380 DSRs. A Gold Medallion winner for annual sales above $3 million, he has been with Ben E. Keith for three years, covering the Bryan-College Station area.

In addition, Ben E. Keith has named Ventura Foods, LLP, its Supplier of the Year, for the third year in a row. A leading manufacturer of shortening, oils, margarines and dressings, Ventura also garnered the top honor in the grocery category.

S.S.D.C., a supplier of cleaning products, was the winner in the nonfoods category, Driscoll Strawberries, for produce, and Tyson Foods, for frozen foods. Tyson Prepared Foods, Inc., took center-of-the-plate honors, and Carlisle Products was the equipment and supply award recipient.
