KFC names new chief marketing officer

KFC has hired Andrea Zahumensky as its new chief marketing officer of U.S. operations. Zahumensky succeeds Kevin Hochman, the marketer responsible for KFC’s quirky multi-Colonel rebrand, who was promoted to president and chief concept officer of KFC U.S. earlier this year.

“Andrea is a highly regarded marketing professional with a 20-year track record of success building multibillion-dollar brands globally,” Hochman said in an announcement from KFC parent Yum Brands. “With her transformative approach to marketing and ability to build and inspire teams, I’m confident she is the right leader to continue to drive KFC’s marketing efforts to the next level.”

Zahumensky, whose new role is effective Dec. 4, will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies as KFC continues to build upon the brand’s U.S. turnaround in recent years. The chicken chain resurrected a focus on its founder, Colonel Harland Sanders, as the guiding light of its rebrand. KFC brought back the original spokesman, played by a rotating cast of comedians and actors, in national advertising both on and offline.

Most recently, Zahumensky served as brand director for Procter & Gamble’s Baby Care business in North America, where her marketing initiatives included connecting with millennial moms.
