Maines Partners with Local Farmers to Promote Food Safety

CONKLIN, NY (March 12, 2012)—To address consumers’ food safety concerns, Maines Paper & Food Service, Inc. is hosting approximately 100 local growers for a comprehensive one-day program uniquely tailored to help them implement a food-safety plan that will meet the requirements of their customers.

The hands-on, interactive seminar will feature national food-safety experts who will address what steps local farmers can take to protect consumers – and their own reputations.

“Consumers increasingly value fresh, locally grown produce, but above all they want to trust in the quality and safety of the products they buy,” says Peter Grannis, Director of Produce Express, a division of Maines. “Our goal is to ensure that consumers have the freshest, most nutritious and safe produce, while also helping local farmers to thrive by implementing good agricultural practices. We strive to support local farmers whenever possible.”

Maines Paper & Food Service, Inc., will be hosting the seminar with its subsidiaries Produce Express and MaineSource, in partnership with the Produce Marketing Association.
