Restaurant Business on Thursday was named a finalist for 12 Jesse H. Neal Awards, including two team projects that took on the epidemic of addiction in restaurants, and the industry’s struggles with supply chain challenges.

In its 69th year, the Neal awards by the Software & Information Industry Association, or SIIA, celebrate excellence in business-to-business journalism. They are among the most prestigious of editorial honors and more than 60 awards will be granted across more than 25 categories.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony in New York City, scheduled for April 21. The awards that night will include the unveiling of the Grand Neal Award, honoring the most outstanding entry across all categories.

“Being nominated for the Neal Awards is a testament to the unwavering commitment, passion and talent of the Restaurant Business team,” said Abbey Lewis, vice president of content strategy at Winsight LLC, parent to Restaurant Business. “I am so very proud of their exceptional journalism, and their dedication to delivering insightful and impactful stories that help inform the restaurant industry.”

For Restaurant Business this year, Senior Editor Joe Guszkowski was a finalist in three categories, including two for his coverage of ghost kitchens, and one for Best Range of Work by a Single Author.

Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Maze is a finalist for Best Use of Social Media, which included the new TikTok column Fast Food Minute. Editor-At-Large Peter Romeo made the finals in two categories for a profile on the sobriety support group Ben’s Friends, and for leading coverage of California’s Fast Act.

The staff also earned multiple finalist nominations for Top 500 coverage, as well as Best Website, and Best Range of Work by a Media Brand.

“The Restaurant Business team put together an incredible amount of high-quality work last year and these finalists prove it. This is a phenomenal group of journalists and I’m thrilled to call them my colleagues. What a great job they did,” said Maze.

Last year, Restaurant Business took home five Neal awards and was a finalist for the Grand Neal Award in each of the past two years. Over the past three years, the team has been named finalists for 38 Neal Awards in total.
