Several of the world’s largest lodging companies are joining forces to accelerate the adoption of sustainability practices in the hospitality supply chain.

The founding members of Hospitality Alliance for Responsible Procurement, or HARP, include Marriott International, Accor, Hilton, IHG Hotels & Resorts and Radisson Hotel Group.

Other participants include the procurement groups Avendra and Entegra and an international concern that rates the sustainability commitments of various companies, Ecovadis.

Marriott said in announcing HARP’s formation that the group will promote faster adoption of sustainability practices by stressing the need for transparency and quicker green-lighting of sustainability-oriented pilot programs.

The announcement indicated that Ecovadis will provide a report card of sorts for the lodging giant’s suppliers.

The group is also soliciting the involvement of other lodging operators.
