The National Restaurant Association has new leadership

Working Lunch: Align Public Strategies’ Joe Kefauver and Franklin Coley discuss Michelle Korsmo’s qualifications. They also discuss Starbucks’ continuing unionization issue.

The National Restaurant Association has a new leader in Michelle Korsmo.

In this week’s episode of the “Working Lunch” podcast, Joe Kefauver, managing partner with Align Public Strategies, and Franklin Coley, a partner with the firm, discuss Korsmo’s background, her impressive qualifications and the big job she has ahead of her.

They also discuss the continued unionization push at Starbucks, now up to 100 locations, and the company’s recent response. They discuss the company’s messaging, their timing, and the lessens other companies can learn from their actions going forward.

And MIT, yes that MIT, has released a new study equating increases in minimum wages to increases in voting participation. They look at that study and see what it might mean for the wage conversation going forward.

Also, legislative scorecard.
