Moviegoers will get a taste of how theater concessions have evolved when AMC Theatres opens its newest Dine-In complex this week.

The AMC Dine-In Topanga 12, in Topanga, Calif., is the first newly constructed theater to be opened this year by the nation’s largest movie-hall operator. As such, it features such advances as the delivery of meals to patrons’ seats. In addition to popcorn and other standard movie nibbles, the menu options include a chicken Cobb salad, Southern-style tenders, burgers, a bacon and chicken mac ‘n cheese bowl, and a line of “mega” shakes.

Yet to open is a planned on-site bar called AMC MacGuffins that will sell alcoholic beverages before, during and after a film.

“Opening AMC Dine-In Topanga 12 is among our most important accomplishments, for our company, for our studio partners and, most importantly, for moviegoers," Dan Ellis, AMC’s chief operations and development officer, said in a statement.

He called it "one of our crown jewels not only in the Los Angeles area, but in the entire country."

AMC operates 950 theaters throughout the world.
