Why is Chick-fil-A getting into meal kits?

Earlier this week, Chick-fil-A said it would start selling meal kits at its Atlanta-area restaurants in the hopes that it could expand the offering nationwide.

In this week’s edition of the Restaurant Business podcast "A Deeper Dive," Sara Monnette, vice president of innovation forRB sister company Technomic, helps explain why Chick-fil-A is dipping its toes into such a different market as meal kits.

She also talks about Chick-fil-A’s amazing success as well as the chicken market overall.

In addition, RB Editor-at-Large Peter Romeo talks about some of the times that restaurant founders and executives have gotten themselves into trouble with their mouths. The stories come to mind following the controversy surrounding Papa John’s and its founder, John Schnatter.
