US Foods Buys Glover Wholesale

ROSEMONT, IL (September 6, 2012)US Foods will buy Americus, Ga.-based foodservice distributor Glover Wholesale Co. for an undisclosed sum.

The deal is expected to close in early October.

Glover Wholesale President and CEO David Harris will join US Foods as the director, business development, in central Georgia.

Founded in 1892 by George Washington Napoleon Bonaparte Glover as a wholesale distributor, the company generates more than $90 million in annual sales and serves approximately 2,500 customers throughout Georgia, eastern Alabama and northern Florida. It ranked #46 in the ID Top 50 in 2011.

“Adding Glover’s business in the Southeast will enable us to introduce US Foods’ unique brand, innovative food culture and trend-setting products to new customers, and expand our coverage throughout the region,” said Keith Campbell, south region president for Rosemont, Ill.-based US Foods.

Distributor US Foods produces more than $20 billion in annual revenue and is both the largest privately owned broadline foodservice distributor and the 10th largest private company in America.
